Top leaders of the Rivers State Government
and elders of the State on Sunday gathered at the Government
House Port Harcourt Chapel of Everlasting Grace to offer thanks for
the first year anniversary of the church.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, his
wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, PDP National Chairman,
Prince Uche Secondus were joined by commissioners, Special Advisers,
Permanent Secretaries and top civil servants to offer thanks to God
for his mercies.
The only Bible Reading of the thanksgiving
service was taken by the wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice
Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike from Psalm 95: 1-7.
Chaplain of the Government House Port Harcourt
Chapel of Everlasting Grace, Venerable Sunday Opara thanked God for
using Governor Wike to erect a church to honour the name of the Most
High.
In a sermon, Venerable John Adubasim urged
Christians to always give their best to the service of God and
humanity.
He urged the people to remain steadfast in 2019
and ensure that that their will prevails, whether or not they get
monetary benefits.
He said that all Christians must ensure that
the State is not mortgaged by forces of darkness in 2019.
Speaking at the service, Rivers State Governor,
Nyesom Wike thanked the clergy and Christian Faithful for
their prayers which have sustained the administration.
He urged them to intensify their prayers as the
state enters a more trying period in 2019.
Governor Wike said that the Government House
Chapel of Everlasting Grace was constructed to give glory to God at
all times.
Highpoint of the celebration was the
presentation of awards to Governor Wike, his wife, Justice Eberechi
Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, Speaker Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, Chief of Staff to
the Rivers State Governor, Engr Chukwuemeka Woke, Permanent Secretary
of Government House Administration, Dr Onyenachi Nwankwor amongst
others.
Prayers were said for Rivers State Government,
people of the state and special thanksgiving songs lifted the spirit
of worhippers.
