Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu, mother of yet-to-be released Dapchi secondary schoolgirl, Leah, who was kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists, Wednesday spoke with President Muhammadu Buhari on phone. The president who placed the call to her said his administration will do everything within its powers to bring Leah back home.
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja, Buhari said, “I convey my emotion, the strong commitment of my administration and the solidarity of all Nigerians to you and your family as we will do our best to bring your daughter home in peace and safety.”
He assured the mother that his heart was with her family, adding that the entire nation was praying for the safe return of “our daughter, Leah.”
Boko Haram had given October 15 deadline to the federal government to come for her release or else she will be killed if their demands were not met.
Her father Mr. Nathan Sharibu and his wife, Rebecca, cried out to the Federal Government to help secure her release by meeting the insurgents’ demands.
