Uche Secondus, PDP National Chairman
Okpe leaders Tuesday drew battle-line with the
All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) over the Sapele State constituency seat.
“We
are prepared to stake everything in this political war in order to
vindicate our cause” the leaders said.
There were speculations that APC and PDP might
present candidates from Sapele rural.
In
a statement in Sapele, the leaders urged the good people of Sapele
urban to reject at the 2019 polls completely PDP and APC candidates
from Sapele rural.
“A
political party can win election only by the will of the people.
There abound many people who are well qualified to represent the
constituency from Sapele urban. We’ll ensure power shift in 2019”
the leaders said.
Signed by the Chairman, Sapele Okpe Community,
Mr. Patrick Akamovbe, the leaders vowed to mobilize the women and
youths to reject APC and PDP in 2019 should they go ahead to present
candidates from Sapele rural.
Specifically, the leaders urged APC National
Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, PDP National Chairman, Prince
Uche Secondus, Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and PDP
Chairman, Delta State Chapter, Mr. Kingsley Esiso not to take Sapele
urban aspirants for granted.
“There
is no force on earth to stop us from installing someone from Sapele
urban as member of the Delta State House of Assembly in 2019”
They stated that ethnic and political leaders
in Sapele urban are now united.
“Hon
Ejaife Odebala from Amukpe represented Sapele State Constituency from
1999 to 2007. Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya from Elume has been
representing the area since 2007. Sapele urban has over eight wards
while Sapele rural has less than three wards. The next representative
must come from Sapele urban” the leaders stated.
If PDP doesn’t present Sapele urban candidate
in 2019, it should better forget the assembly seat” the leaders
added.
