Kabir Tanimu Turaki
Kabiru
Taminu-Turaki , presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party
,PDP, Wednesday called for the arrest and prosecution of all those
who masterminded the invasion and blockage of the National Assembly
by the operatives of the DSS on Tuesday.
He
made the call during a chat with newsmen in Akure, Ondo state after
he met with the partys state leaders.
According
to him, "It is important that everybody that has a hand in what
happened must be arrested and prosecuted. Let example be made
out of them.
"You
must know that where you decide to follow illegal and
unconstitutional instructions, then you pay for it . This is what is
being done in most of the decent and civilised countries and Nigeria
should not be an exception.”
Turaki
supported the sack of a former Director-General of DSS, Lawal Daura
by the presidency, saying the Federal Government should do more
investigation into the blockage of the National Assembly by the
operatives of the DSS.
According
to him, sacking of the former DSS boss was not enough, for Daura
could not have single-handedly carried out the act, without an
order from certain quarters.
" The event of Tuesday is a serious threat to democracy in this country. If our democratic institution like the National Assembly could be desecrated in the way and manner that some DSS operatives did ,I believe very strongly that it is not enough for the FG to remove the head of the security agency.

The
former Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs
however assured that the emergence of a presidential candidate in the
party would get hitch free.
Turaki
said the aspirants have been meeting 'in a bid to have a candidate
ahead the presidential primary of the party with any rancour
The
presidential aspirant declared that "the forthcoming
presidential election, in 2019 was not about the PDP nor any
individual but about the rescue of the " failing Nigeria from
the APC-led government, saying that was why all the PDP aspirants
agreed to support anybody that eventually emerged as the candidate of
the party .
" Nigeria needs a person with good character, integrity, good health and fear of God. All the aspirants of the PDP are eminently qualified to get the ticket of the party.
" I want to say that anyone of us that get the ticket of the party will perform better than what the APC is doing to our country now. We have met and discussed with one another that we will support anyone that gets the ticket.
" The matter is not about us or the PDP but it is about the people of this country. People are being killed everyday and nothing is being done about it, our economy is nothing to write home about, the APC is moving the country backward.
"We are prepared to wrestle the power from the APC and we need the supports of the party members and the people of Nigeria.
" The situation of the country is very serious and we must come together to fight it out. We have learnt out lessons in the PDP. The APC are jittery because people are leaving them, they are scared because other opposition parties have decided to team up with the PDP to take over the power. "
