Osinbajo visits SMEs sponsored by Nigerian professionals at Intra-African Trade Fair

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo  in Cairo, visited the stands of some of the small and medium enterprises sponsored to the ongoing inaugural Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) by the Association of Professional Nigerians in Egypt (APNEG) as the trade fair celebrated the Nigeria Country Day.
At the stand of Clothing Africana, one of four SMEs sponsored to the trade fair by APNEG, Prof. Osinbajo expressed satisfaction with APNEG’s initiative in supporting the SMEs by sponsoring them to participate in the trade fair which seeks to stimulating increased trade among African countries.
In addition to Clothing Africana, APNEG also sponsored Proach Shoes, Shoeplanet Multi Concepts Ltd and Renyam Nigeria Company to the fair following a competitive process that involved extensive review of the company profiles and products by members of APNEG.
Proach Shoes manufactures high quality made-in-Nigeria shoes while Renyam Nigeria Company specializes in agricultural products, including acha (hungry rice), honey, livestock, beans, maize, millet, and vegetables. Clothing Africana is a fashion and styling outfit based in Lagos while Shoe Planet Multi Concepts Ltd is a made-in-Nigeria designer, producer and marketer of high quality bags, shoes and other fashion-related products.
The sponsorship covered the travel and accommodation costs of representatives of the companies for their travel from Nigeria to Egypt to participate in the trade fair as well as the cost of their exhibition booths.
APNEG, which is open to all Nigerian professionals resident in Egypt, was established to, among other things, work for the advancement of Nigeria, promote and project a positive image of Nigeria and her cultural values, promote mutual understanding among its members and serve as a channel of communication with the government and people of Nigeria.
The IATF, which opened on Tuesday, is organized by Afreximbank, in collaboration with the African Union, and hosted by the Government of Egypt. It will last until 17 December and is expected to attract about 70,000 visitors.
Transactions worth about $25 billion are expected to be concluded at the IATF which has almost 1,100 registered exhibitors from 42 countries.
