Primaries: Anambra APC stakeholders recommend consensus

Oshiomhole, APC chairman

Statutory members of the Anambra State Caucus of APC our great party and elected state officers rose from a crucial consultative meeting last night recommending the consensus mode for choosing its 2019 candidates to elective positions.
The meeting also resolved that in areas where for any reason, consensus fails, the direct primaries option will be used to produce candidates.
APC Constitution provides that even when Consensus approach succeeds, primaries will be needed to ratify or reject the successful aspirant on a Yes- No vote basis and specific votes recorded  to ascertain that it is not an imposition.
The meeting also endorsed the set up of a committee to harmonise all areas of conflict arising from the 2018 Wards and Local Government Congresses within the confines of the party structures and report by Tuesday September 11,2018.
The meeting discussed and agreed on broadening funding base of the chapter to enable the objectives of the party to be met, while positioning the chapter well within the politics of Nigeria.
Also recommended was the fresh election of three delegates each from 21 LGs of Anambra State on Wednesday September 12,2018 to form part of the delegates to represent the chapter in the October 6,2018Convention of the party for ratifying its choice of presidential candidate.
The decision on mode of primaries is subject to the approval of the State Executive Committee (SEC).
