The joint action by critical stakeholders to mainstream best practices in administration of Federal, State and Local Government public service recruitment, confirmation and promotion examinations has gathered steam as more agencies join to support and facilitate the National Capacity Building Conference scheduled to hold in Abuja.
SERVICOM, the Federal Government Agency with the task of empowering public officers to be alert to their responsibilities in providing efficient services, has thrown its weight behind the effort. The agency has confirmed that its national coordinator/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, will address the conference on Adopting and Deploying the Framework of SERVICOM in Administration of Public Service Examinations. The Medical and Health Workers' Union of Nigeria has also confirmed that its National President, Comrade (Dr) Biobelemoye Josiah and Secretary General, Comrade (Dr) Silas Gadani Adamu will be attending the Confab to present the perspective of the Union on imperative need for best practices in recruitment and promotion of workers with responsibility for life and death decisions.
The confirmation of support from SERVICOM and Medical and Health Workers Union followed that of Federal Civil Service Commission, Bureau of Public Service Reforms and Ministry of Budget and National Planning. Professor Aminu Diyo Sheidu, the Commissioner representing Kogi and Kwara States at the Federal Civil Service Commission, will stand in for the Hon Chairman of the Commission to address the Conference on lessons for best practices in public service promotion examinations from the experiences of FCSC. Dr John Abah, Director General of Bureau of Public Service Reforms will address the Conference on imperative of best practices in public service examinations for restoration of public service core values of integrity, impartiality and dignity.
Professor Sam Smah, an erudite Sociology scholar and University Administrator at Nasarawa State University, Keffi will focus his well researched presentation on how public education can be transformed through best practices in recruitment and promotion of teaching and non-teaching staff in primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions. Other experts will talk on global best practices in performance evaluation, review and management systems; and technological solutions for resolution of contemporary challenges in Federal, State and Local Government public service examinations. Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Hon. Minister of Budget and National Planning, will declare the Conference open as Special Guest of Honour th th Delegates to the conference, scheduled to hold from 24 to 28 July in Abuja, include Directorate Cadre Officers responsible for administration of public service recruitment, confirmation and promotion examinations in Federal, State and Local Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Commissions and Institutions.
