His swearing in has now increased the number of People’s Democratic Party, PDP caucus in the Upper House to 42.
The oath of office was administered on him by the Clerk of the Senate, Mr Nelson Ayewoh during plenary.
Adeleke, who was elected on the platform of the PDP, came to the National Assembly very early Wednesday with his supporters and  clad in white Yoruba traditional agbada attire with a befitting cap style of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke.

Formally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adeleke defected to the PDP in the heat of nominating a candidate to fill vacant position of the senatorial seat in the National Assembly following the death of Isiaka Adeleke.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had declared Adeleke of the PDP winner of the bye-election, polling 97, 480 votes to beat his arch rival, Senator Mudashir Hussein of the APC who scored 66, 116.
