Delta Police Command denies alleged assassination attempt on Senator Ovie Omo Agege

The police high command in Delta State denied the alleged assassination plot on Senator Ovie Omo Agege representing Delta Central Senatorial District at the red chambers of the national assembly, on the ground that he was adequately protected by security operatives attached to him on the day of the sad incident.
The police further said that it was the handiwork of some political miscreants not connected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governor Okowa administration.
Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe after the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Zanna Ibrahim's reactions said "Let me make it abundantly clear that the SMART GOVERNOR of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is a peace loving leader and a blessed christian with strong and uncompromised moral values in accordance with biblical principles.

"The state government through the office of the Executive Assistant on Orientation (Barrister Eugene Uzum), has spent so much resources, time and talents in recent times to educate our youths on the need to abhor cultism, violence and other social vices. The moves and the good works of the EA Orientation is now yielding tremendous results.
"I had series of phone interviews today Monday July 17, 2017 with the mass media on this issue based on their request to clear the air (Radio, Tv, Newspapers and online newspapers). The facts are now bare in public domain as the State Commissioner of Police swiftly reacted by saying that the incident cannot be linked to the PDP or Okowa administration.
"The truth remains that the All Progressives Congress (APC) do not exit in Delta State and in an attempt to conjure unmerited public and media attention, its leaders decided to make a show out of an internal crisis presently rocking DELTA APC.
"It is strongly believed by political observers that an aggrieved faction of Delta APC mobilized to disrupt Senator Ovie Omo Agege's stipends events in Effurun market. This is however subject to confirmation as the state police command may carry out further investigation if there are credible evidence.
"The general public should please discard the APC DELTA unfortunate political propaganda by trying to link an internal crisis of APC to either PDP Delta or the Okowa administration.
Delta State Governor is back from his annual vacation and will continue to render quality service to Deltans irrespective of political affiliations as the constitution of Nigeria bestowed on him and his smart result oriented cabinet," the statement added.
